Newbury cadets on target - November 06

Newbury Air Cadets get the opportunity to shoot and practice their marksmanship skills.

Following on from the successes at the Inter-Service Cadet Rifle Meet at Bisley, Newbury Air Cadets have been training a new batch of target shooters at RAF Benson.

With a range of target rifles available to us, and high quality instruction through coaching and progressive training methods, the Squadron took a group of 10 cadets to RAF Benson to learn about the L98A1 Cadet General Purpose rifle and the L81 Cadet Target Rifle.

Warrant Officer Ian Lowe, the Squadron’s Shooting Officer, said "The excellent training facilities at RAF Benson enable us to teach the cadets in small groups and to a high and safe standard."

Whilst some cadets were training on the two weapons a group who had already qualified were given the opportunity to practice their skills on the stations range - honing their marksmanship skills and abilities with a view to joining the squadrons successful shooting team.
