Bearshead Challenge, 3rd - 6th November 2006

The Squadron was invited to send a team of five 'more senior' cadets to an adventurous training competition called the 'Bearshead Challenge' last weekend. The event is hosted annually by 1148 (Penarth) Squadron at the Nesscliffe training camp near Shrewsbury in Shropshire.

The first day involved a navigation challenge over the nearby Berwent hills - arriving at check points accurately at pre ordained times gained points; the more check points attended with the greatest accuracy gains most points.
The second day involved eight, one hour stands arranged near to the camp. Orienteering, tent construction, first aid, archery, mountain biking and camp craft to name a few.

At the presentation evening, the cadets from the Squadron were presented with their commemorative T-shirts, and joint sixth place (from 28 teams). Their score of 65 points was only four short of the winning score of 69.
Congratulations, and better luck next year!!!!!
